What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is designed to encase the surface of an entire tooth, rebuilding its lost structure and strengthening the natural portion. This restorative dentistry option is very versatile, and our team typically recommends it in cases of broken teeth, fractured teeth, severe decay, large fillings, or even for purely dental cosmetic concerns. We also use crowns as the finishing touches for root canal and dental implant procedures so that patients can enjoy a fully improved tooth after their treatment.

What are inlays and onlays?

Inlays and onlays are dental restorations that are used when the damage to the tooth is not severe enough to warrant a dental crown. Unlike dental crowns, inlays and onlays cover only a portion of the tooth.

How can a fixed bridge help me?

If you are missing one or more teeth in a row, a dental bridges could be the perfect solution. This device consists of three or more fused dental crowns in a row, and it is designed to securely restore the lost tooth or teeth in a way that looks lifelike and feels permanent, unlike traditional removable dentures. This strong fit is accomplished with the additional crowns, which fit over nearby healthy teeth and serve as anchors for the replacement tooth, holding it in place.

There are many benefits to a fixed dental bridges, including it being one of our more affordable tooth replacement options. It is also a time-tested treatment that is reliable and long-lasting.

Do you offer implant-secured tooth replacement options?

Yes! In many cases, we can provide implant dentistry services in our office from beginning to end, offering not only traditional dental implants, but mini dental implants, as well.  In select cases, we will partner with a local specialist to place your dental implants before adding the restoration right here in our office. We can offer single tooth restorations and full or partial arch restorations, including implant-supported bridges.

What are crowns and bridges made of?

The material we will recommend for your new dental crown will depend on its position in your mouth, but in most cases, we are happy to offer all-ceramic options so that you can maintain a beautiful, natural-looking smile. We also offer porcelain fused to metal and zirconia options that are incredibly durable.

How long do dental crowns and bridges last?

Dental Crowns and bridges are designed to be permanent, long-lasting restorations. However, how long they last will depend on your situation and how well they are cared for. In general, dental crowns and bridges can last for about 5 to 15 years. They can possibly even last for the rest of your life! We recommend regular dental checkups to help maintain your dental restorations and elongate the life of your dental crowns or dental bridge.
